Bulk Is Not Always Cheaper

Here’s a reminder from Money, Matter, and More Musings that Bulk Is Not Always Cheaper. At the local grocery store, “the 2 lb onion bag comes to around $2.50 per pound, whereas if you just buy loose onions on per pound basis, you will get the same onions at $1.49 per pound.”
I’ve talked about how much prices can vary on the same item in the same grocery store before. The only way to combat it is to:
a. Always do the math all the way through. What is the price per pound/ounce/etc. in this situation versus that situation?
b. Keep vigilant. Stores change prices up all the time in the hope that you will get complacent and not notice the change.
I guess a little bit of laziness can cost you.
